Health & Wellness
At Parkglen, we strive to make sure you are looked after in the best possible way through available medical services, transportation options and extra aged care services.
We have regular doctors from Parkmore Medical Centre, a pharmacy delivery service and a podiatrist on-site – all appointments can be booked and prescriptions dropped at the reception.
A doctor from Parkmore Medical Centre visits the Community Centre twice a week. You are able to make an appointment at Reception. The doctor’s room is located in the main foyer.
O’Brien’s Pharmacy will collect, dispense and deliver your script back to you at Parkglen. Service is available Monday-Friday. Parkglen residents are offered a 10% discount on all items (excluding prescription drugs).
A podiatrist is in attendance approximately 4 times a month. Appointments can be made at Reception.
Physiotherapy, Optometry, and Audiology
Our physiotherapist can come when requested, plus we also have weekly physiotherapy exercise classes on offer. An optometrist and Audiologist visits twice a year. For all appointments, please ask reception.
Parkglen is very well located with bus services outside travelling regularly to railway stations and shopping centres. We also provide a Community bus making regular trips to all the shopping centres you need locally. Taxis can be called by a reception and come right to the front door where you can wait inside in comfort or call one directly to your home.
Bus services: Ventura bus passes the front entrance of the village stopping when required at the bus shelters provided. The service travels to Dandenong Railway Station via Parkmore Shopping Centre and to Cheltenham Station and Southland via Dingley Village.
Our Community Bus makes the following regular trips:
- Tuesday Parkmore Shopping Centre Leaves 9.15am / returns 11.30am
- Friday Parkmore & Keysborough South Shopping Centres Leave 9.45am / returns 11.30am
Extra Care Services
These can be purchased privately at a fee to all residents and should be booked through the Parkglen Retirement Community office during business hours.
Marianne’s Wax and Nails attends once a month. Our CHAT monthly newsletter has dates available for that month.
The hairdresser, Daniella attends some Wednesdays and every Thursday to attend your hairstyling needs – including male haircuts. Appointments can be made directly with the hairdresser on the phone or in person on a Thursday.
We also offer the following extra care services in your home if you require:
- Shower assistance
- Bed making (daily)
- Meals (in the dining room or by tray)
